Types of Yoga
Hatha Yoga
Hatha Yoga is suitable for beginners and advanced students. Classes include a series of postures, combined with breathing techniques, guided relaxation and meditation. Hatha yoga has a calming effect on the mind but at the same time it helps to stimulate the movement of (prana/life force) energy throughout the body. It is a holistic practice that helps to create strength, flexibility and balance, both mentally and physically.
Power Yoga
Power Yoga is an energetic style of yoga, that uses challenging hatha postures in order to stretch and tone the entire body, while continuously challenging the mind, body and spirit. Power Yoga helps to build stability, core strength and both mental and physical stamina. It is great for the circulatory and lymph systems and promotes health, relaxation and well-being.
Yin Yoga
Unlike other forms of Yoga which focus mainly on the conditioning of muscles, Yin practice helps to stretch the connective tissues of the body. In Yin Yoga passive postures are held for 3-5 minutes. This allows first for the muscles to release, and then the stretch reaches the level of the connective tissues lengthening them, resulting in an increase in range of motion.
Because postures are held several minutes, it allows students a chance to really relax into the postures, both physically and mentally.
Yin is suitable for all levels.
